"The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water..."

Early this morning, I arrived at this verse:

“The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with” (Proverbs 17:14).

Once you’re in it, it’s hard to know when to let go of contention. So it’s better not to take hold of it in the first place.

I found the verse very apropos.

It takes God’s wisdom to know when to walk away. God’s wisdom is there. I don’t always take it. 🙁 But I do better than I did 10 years ago.

The abundace of peace for the meek
No place for strife

This verse reminds me of an Ain’t Complicated blog post I’ve had in mind for months: “Discussions To Walk Away From.”

In other reading, this book by Lester Bauman: My Brother’s Keeper.

PS: This year I started reading through Proverbs again. (It’s been a long time.) I read half the day’s chapter early in the morning and the other half late at night. Today’s chapter is 17, naturally. It has 28 verses. So around six this morning I read verses 1-14, naturally. And almost missed verse 14, naturally. 🙂

God bless you today! 😉 (And, yes, you know who you are.)

Surely you could add something...
