{"id":1081,"date":"2008-09-15T15:29:33","date_gmt":"2008-09-15T22:29:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/mvp\/?p=1081"},"modified":"2012-04-04T11:58:40","modified_gmt":"2012-04-04T18:58:40","slug":"revealed-uk%e2%80%99s-first-official-sharia-courts-times-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/2008\/revealed-uk%e2%80%99s-first-official-sharia-courts-times-online\/","title":{"rendered":"UK\u2019s first official sharia courts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Of camels and noses?<\/p>\n<table width=75% align=center bgcolor=pink border=1 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=5>\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/news\/uk\/crime\/article4749183.ece\">UK\u2019s first official sharia courts<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Islamic law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases.<\/p>\n<p>The government has quietly sanctioned the powers for sharia judges to rule on cases ranging from divorce and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p>Rulings issued by a network of five sharia courts are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through the county courts or High Court.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the rulings of sharia courts in Britain could not be enforced, and depended on voluntary compliance among Muslims.<\/p>\n<p>It has now emerged that sharia courts with these powers have been set up in London, Birmingham, Bradford and Manchester with the network\u2019s headquarters in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
