Church pageant turns 20<\/a><\/p>\n
When the curtain rose Wednesday night at the Fairview Mennonite Church in Albany, the annual Christmas program ushered in its 20th year of production.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou Are There: Jesus Christ, His Birth\u201d is the production that has been a seasonal staple in Albany since 1989.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s come a long way,\u201d said Leonard Gerig, who adapted the program from a script by Jim Grant. \u201cWe\u2019ve undergone a few changes over the years but it is much the same as when we started.\u201d<\/p>\n
The church performs three shows each year involving about 120 people from the congregation.<\/p>\n
