{"id":2350,"date":"2012-02-25T06:31:40","date_gmt":"2012-02-25T14:31:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/?p=2350"},"modified":"2014-08-29T06:16:22","modified_gmt":"2014-08-29T13:16:22","slug":"self-resistance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/2012\/self-resistance\/","title":{"rendered":"Self-Resistance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Resist myself?! \ud83d\ude2f<\/p>\n<p>If I do that, how shall I advance?<\/p>\n<p>The truth seems so backward: <b>Unless I resist my self<\/b>, <i>I shall not move forward<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>I need to deny myself in various ways.<\/p>\n<p>Early in the morning, I often <b>ask God to help me reject these<\/b> in my life:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Self-promotion<\/li>\n<li>Self-justification<\/li>\n<li>Self-exaltation<\/li>\n<li>Self-righteousness<\/li>\n<li>Self-pity<\/li>\n<li>Self-indulgence<\/li>\n<li>Self-deception<\/li>\n<li>Self-absorption<\/li>\n<li>Self-flagellation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Actually, that last one is a fresh addition to my list. I need to remember it in my morning prayer times. Beating up on myself comes too easily. That&#8217;s not particularly noble. Nor spiritual. Nor godly. Nor healthful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Self-denial.<\/strong> It&#8217;s an essential, <strong>defining part of being a Christian<\/strong>.
