(I like to walk.)

The temperature was a tad nippy, the precipitation was barely drippy, the air currents were somewhat whippy, and I felt borderline zippy.

As I walked, I talked. In my head. With certain subjects on the agenda.

But as I walked, some things I saw altered the agenda and the conversation…

The first car that zoomed by reminded me to ask God to (1) keep these drivers safe, (2) bless these drivers, (3) give these drivers a good day, and (4) revive, renew, redeem, and restore these drivers. That was a good-for-the-day series of requests intended to cover everyone who drives by our place.

I kept on walking, returning to my agenda.

Then I saw that house. It reminded me of a neighbor’s physical uncertainty and potential illness. And that reminded me of another neighbor, also sick and presently further away. Then I mentioned two family members, also not well. And the very sick child of a missionary-family-in-waiting.

And I kept on walking, picking up my agenda where I’d left off, more or less.

But seeing a certain car, I bumped an agenda item up on the list. So I prayed for our two school teachers. And the chorus director. And the principal. Tomorrow night is the closing program (aka, Graduation and/or Commencement). And Friday is the last day of school. And Saturday is the much-anticipated school picnic.

Walk and talk. Talk and walk. But quietly. If you’d been there with me, you likely wouldn’t have heard either.

But God did. I believe that.

Oh. Something else from my walk. I heard geese honking. (They have to around here since the cows have no horns.) I looked up, but couldn’t see them. I caught on that I should be looking down. Yes, down!

There they came, four Canada geese rising from the Pudding River bottom in full flight, but still below my level.

As they rose and overflew me, they were still so low I could hear their wing gears grinding. I have never heard that sound before. Very neat! Seriously, their bones or tendons or muscles or gears or something were making very audible sounds, not at all to be confused with the sound of flapping wings.

I hope you (or you or you or you) is a bird watcher/hearer and can tell me what I heard.

Anyway, it was a great morning walk.

Was I prayer walking? I doubt it, unless prayer walking is merely defined as praying while walking.

Most of my praying is while walking, though I still do some prayer kneeling and some prayer sitting and some prayer lying and some prayer driving. (Of those five, the first and last are with my eyes open, OK?)

PS: I know I should walk further than a mile, but I didn’t put our residence and the bridge where they are.

I went on my early morning half-mile-each-way walk.
