Well, dear reader, you didn’t buy any toilet paper. So let me tell you something else.<\/p>\n

My throat hurts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I know, that would matter much more to you if you<\/em> had just said that. That doesn’t hurt my feelings. I understand. <\/p>\n

But I’m not writing to tell you my throat hurts, but to tell you about something I did for it<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

I cooked water.<\/p>\n

<\/a>\"\"Yep, cooked water. I deployed my newest weapon in the War on Sore Thorats — a fancy I-didn’t-even-know-they-existed tetera el\u00e9ctrica by GE that I got for my birthday last month. It looks like the this one here, so I suppose they came out of the same Chinese factory…with some minor branding and packaging changes.<\/p>\n

Anyway, this electric kettle<\/a>\"\" heats water quickly and efficiently and handily.<\/p>\n

<\/a>\"\"I poured the boiling water into my “Genuine Antique Person” mug I got for some other birthday. Ahead of the water, though, I plopped a bag of Stash Peppermint Herbal Tea (Caffeine Free)<\/a>\"\".<\/p>\n

Then I put on (the mug, not me) a wide-mouth canning lid<\/a>\"\" to seal in the heat while the tea steeped for three minutes.<\/p>\n

After the kitchen timer (I’ll spare you yet another Amazon link) beeped the conclusion of the steepage, I removed the lid and the tea bag, added honey and fresh-squoze lemon juice (I skipped the apple cider vinegar this time), and proceeded with the slurp and sip stage.<\/p>\n

And that is how I treat a sore throat. Well, one of the ways. I also use cough drops (profusely), orange juice, and ignorance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In fact, most of today I used ignorance. That is, I just ignored the throat. Then this evening I had a 7-ounce cup of leftover orange juice, invigorated with ten drops of grapeseed extract (or it is grapefruit seed extract? I often forget), at least that many drops of fresh-squoze lemon juice, salt, and cayenne pepper. That was before the tea treatment.<\/p>\n

Maybe I should have another tea treatment…after I feed the dog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
