Crunch!<\/i><\/div>\n<p>OK, more than a push &#8212; a whiplashing bash. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>It happened on her birthday. In Sandy, Oregon.<\/p>\n<div class=\"capt-pix\"><a href=\"\/mvp\/wp-content\/rearended-1997-buick-lesabre-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/mvp\/wp-content\/rearended-1997-buick-lesabre-2.jpg\" alt=\"1997 Buick LeSabre, bashed in back end\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Compliments of a motorist who barged into her car<\/i><\/div>\n<p>Thankfully, Mr. Regretful Cruiser <!--more--> &#8212; well, those are the right initials anyway! &#8212; accepted the blame. \ud83d\ude33 Alas, he&#8217;s not accepted accountability. \ud83d\ude41 And, we found out weeks later, he was (is?) an uninsured driver &#8212; cruising around with canceled insurance.<\/p>\n<p>We only carry liability. (There&#8217;s a reason for it, but stating it would stray from the point of this post.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/mvp\/wp-content\/rearended-1997-buick-lesabre-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/mvp\/wp-content\/rearended-1997-buick-lesabre-3.jpg\" alt=\"Rearended 1997 Buick LeSabre\" style=\"width:379px; height:600px; padding-left:50px\" class=\"alignright\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, it includes medical coverage for such an event as this. So she and her brother have already racked up hundreds of dollars in chiropractor bills related to whiplash injuries. Covered by <b>G<\/b>overnment <b>E<\/b>mployees <b>I<\/b>nsurance <b>Co<\/b>mpanies. (Thank you, Heather! You and Geico have been superb at this!)<\/p>\n<p>But we&#8217;re stuck with a ruined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cars.com\/buick\/lesabre\/1997\/specifications\" title=\"1997 Buick LeSabre | cars.com\">1997 Buick LeSabre<\/a> &#8212; about a $2000 loss. It just had over $500 of mechanical work done. It was our best vehicle. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>What do you do with a car that&#8217;s totaled &#8220;only&#8221; because the rear end is royally bashed in?! (And the rear axle tweaked in a bit.) \ud83d\ude15<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>Bill Him<\/b> &#8212; I could ask him to haul it off for $2000. Or simplify his life, send us $1500, and we&#8217;ll dispose of the remains. Here&#8217;s what I think of this option: \ud83d\ude44 <\/li>\n<li><b>Recycler<\/b> &#8212; Have the recycler haul it off. We&#8217;d probably get $250-300.
