Early this morning.
\nI sat there, watching the fruit flies.
\nAll three of them — hovering, flitting.
\n“What is their field of vision?” I wondered.<\/p>\n
Thus the Fruit Fly Thought Cascade began. There’s a lesson there. What is their depth perception?<\/p>\n How close can they focus? How far?<\/p>\n Are they afraid of me?<\/p>\n How fast do their little wings beat? <\/p>\n Seemed about the size of the star I saw this morning.<\/p>\n They reminded me of dragonflies and hummingbirds.<\/p>\n And of my friends JM and GG at an EP<\/a> School Board meeting:<\/p>\n Exactly.<\/p>\n How little are they at birth?<\/p>\n Would I be able to focus my Canon PowerShot S3<\/a> camera on one?<\/p>\n If I catch one in a jar and release it down at the Pudding River bridge, will it be lost?<\/p>\n How small are their vital organs? their non-vital ones?<\/p>\n What do I look like to them?<\/p>\n Since God falls with a little bird<\/a>, how about a fruit fly?<\/p>\n Where do they sleep?<\/p>\n How close can I reach my finger to one?<\/p>\n If one fell in my coffee, would I just drink it on down?<\/p>\n Could I find online any photos of a fruit fly in flight?<\/p>\n Is there any fruit they don’t like?<\/p>\n When I post about this, I should link to Wikipedia<\/a>.<\/p>\n And Amazon (trap<\/a> | education<\/a>), for sure.<\/p>\n Why did God make fruit flies?<\/p>\n They are wonderfully made.<\/p>\n So am I.<\/p>\n The cascade of thoughts launched by the fruit flies went on.<\/p>\n And such is the nature of looks and thoughts.<\/p>\n One can lead to another and then the dam might break lose.<\/p>\n
\nWith just an innocent look.
\nFollowed by a lingering gaze<\/a>.
\nFollowed by a single thought.<\/p>\n
