<\/a><\/p>\nI don’t know what this “watering can” is made of. But I can tell it isn’t stone, metal, or plastic. <\/p>\n
The closeness of the photos causes a loss of size perspective. This easily fits in the palm of my hand. I suppose the candle is about the size of a votive candle. Shrug<\/em><\/p>\n This is the best of the Christmas gifts I have this year. (Thou shalt not covet.)<\/p>\n As soon as I saw it, I was “enthralled” by it. \ud83d\ude2f I just really, really like it! (Call me old and senile, call me a patsy — I still like this thing. So there.)<\/p>\n And then I thought about the message of it. Light.<\/p>\n A day or two later, I thought of another message of it: Water.<\/p>\n On the Roth side of our extended family, we drew names for Christmas. We’re doing our gift exchange after the evening service in our home congregation. This delightful little thing is part of my gift. To the person whose name I drew. To be announced later.<\/p>\n Oh, I mentioned three photos at the beginning of the post…<\/p>\n About the candle…<\/p>\n “For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness”<\/em> (Psalm 18:28).<\/p>\n “No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light”<\/em> (Luke 8:16).<\/p>\n “And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever”<\/em> (Revelation 22:5).<\/p>\n About the watering can…<\/p>\n “The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself”<\/em> (Proverbs 11:25).<\/p>\n “Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour”<\/em> (1 Corinthians 3:8).<\/p>\n \u00a1Feliz Navidad to all!<\/p>\n (Even if I didn’t draw your name for Christmas.)<\/p>\n Oh, one more thing. Our congregation (Hopewell Mennonite Church<\/a>) is having its Christmas program tonight.
