{"id":3963,"date":"2020-04-12T18:44:49","date_gmt":"2020-04-13T01:44:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/?p=3963"},"modified":"2020-04-12T18:44:49","modified_gmt":"2020-04-13T01:44:49","slug":"three-days-and-no-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/2020\/three-days-and-no-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Days and No More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/wp-content\/three-days-and-no-more-mary-magdalene-at-the-tomb-of-jesus.jpg\" alt=\"Mary Magdalene at the tomb of Jesus\" width=\"930\" height=\"658\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3967\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/wp-content\/three-days-and-no-more-mary-magdalene-at-the-tomb-of-jesus.jpg 930w, https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/wp-content\/three-days-and-no-more-mary-magdalene-at-the-tomb-of-jesus-400x283.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/wp-content\/three-days-and-no-more-mary-magdalene-at-the-tomb-of-jesus-150x106.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/wp-content\/three-days-and-no-more-mary-magdalene-at-the-tomb-of-jesus-768x543.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 930px) 100vw, 930px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Disconnected excerpts from a John 20:1-18 story I wove about Resurrection morning.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Jewish religious leaders remembered something Jesus&#8217; own disciples had already forgotten&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Sometime after sunset Saturday night, another great earthquake shook the area&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Those who saw Jesus die as well as those who heard of His death knew where He belonged.<\/li>\n<li>As soon as she got close enough to see through the gray of dawn&#8217;s early light, she peered more intently in startled astonishment.<\/li>\n<li>The incredulous men listened as the exhausted, perhaps hysterical woman poured out her report.<\/li>\n<li>It looked as though Jesus&#8217; body were still there, except for that disconcerting gap between the body wrappings and the head wrapping!<\/li>\n<li>And put yourself in John&#8217;s shoes \u2014 how would <em>you<\/em> go about telling Jesus&#8217; mother that you believed He was alive again!<\/li>\n<li>The conversation and its matter-of-factness seem to indicate that Mary didn&#8217;t recognize these folks as angels.<\/li>\n<li>Though she saw Him and scrutinized Him carefully, He just was not anybody she recognized.<\/li>\n<li>Imagine the Lord&#8217;s compassion for Mary as He listened to her sobbed reply.<\/li>\n<li>Or she could have stiffened in shock, and then turned back slowly, recognition surging through her incredulity&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>So instead of trying to figure out what the Lord meant, notice instead the clear clue to the nature Jesus&#8217; resurrected body.<\/li>\n<li>Such a beautiful name for the disciples, even though they had denied and abandoned Him!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This post&#8217;s title is the tentative title of a lesson I wrote for a high school study of the Gospel of John &#8212; awaiting reviewing, editing, and publication.
