The Ministry of Truth — sounds like something out of the Bible. Except it isn’t. (Is it?)<\/p>\n

Maybe it’s out of the Global Community in the Left Behind Series<\/a>. Or maybe it’s out of 1984 and that Orwell guy<\/a>. Or maybe I just made it up (though I don’t think so). Whatever the case, I thought of the Ministry of Truth (aka, the Department of Truth) today.<\/p>\n

We’ve increased disinformation research and tracking within the Surgeon General\u2019s office. We’re flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation. We’re working with doctors and medical professionals to connect \u2014 to connect medical experts with popular \u2014 with popular \u2014 who are popular with their audiences with \u2014 with accurate information and boost trusted content. So we\u2019re helping get trusted content out there.<\/p>\n

Interesting, huh?<\/p>\n

And then there’s this from Surgeon General Vivek Murthy:<\/p>\n

In his first advisory as the nation’s top doctor under President Joe Biden, Murthy called on tech companies to tweak their algorithms to further demote false information and share more data with researchers and the government to help teachers, healthcare workers and the media fight misinformation.<\/p>\n

“Health misinformation is a serious threat to public health. It can cause confusion, sow mistrust, harm people’s health, and undermine public health efforts. Limiting the spread of health misinformation is a moral and civic imperative,” he said in the advisory, first reported by National Public Radio.<\/p>\n

First it’s about Covid-19. What comes next? Cultural matters? Moral matters? Religious matters? Bible teaching? Your denomination?<\/p>\n
