{"id":461,"date":"2007-10-08T17:18:19","date_gmt":"2007-10-09T00:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/mvp\/?p=461"},"modified":"2007-10-08T17:18:42","modified_gmt":"2007-10-09T00:18:42","slug":"giving-pieces-a-chance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/2007\/giving-pieces-a-chance\/","title":{"rendered":"Giving Pieces a Chance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over at WorldMagBlog, Lynn Vincent asks, <i>&#8220;Would returning East Jerusalem to the Palestinians \u00e2\u20ac\u201d but not the Muslim holy site, the Dome of the Rock \u00e2\u20ac\u201d quell this type of violence?&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p>If there is an historical basis for a positive answer, I would like to know it.<\/p>\n<p>Vincent asks the question because of this:<\/p>\n<table width=75% align=center bgcolor=pink border=1 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=5>\n<tr>\n<td><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldontheweb.com\/2007\/10\/08\/parsing-jersusalem\/\">Parsing Jerusalem<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>A confidant of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the Associated Press today that his government would support a division of Jerusalem in which key eastern neighborhoods would be turned over to the Palestinians.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>This plan isn&#8217;t about giving peace a chance.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about giving pieces a chance. The rationale seems to be that if we give them a piece now, maybe that&#8217;ll satisfy them. And if that piece won&#8217;t do it, we&#8217;ll give them another piece.
