{"id":73,"date":"2005-12-31T08:36:10","date_gmt":"2005-12-31T16:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/mvp\/?p=73"},"modified":"2005-12-31T08:43:03","modified_gmt":"2005-12-31T16:43:03","slug":"so-am-i","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/mvp\/2005\/so-am-i\/","title":{"rendered":"So Am I!"},"content":{"rendered":"<dl>\n<dt>This morning I read <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/afp\/20051231\/ts_afp\/uspoliticseconomy_051230161316\">tale of woe<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><dd>Treasury Secretary John Snow has warned that&#8230;the US government will run out of cash to finance its daily work in two months.<\/p>\n<p><dd>In a letter to Senate leaders Thursday, Snow said the statutory debt limit imposed by Congress of 8.184 trillion dollars would be reached in mid-February and the government would then lose its borrowing power.<\/p>\n<p><dd>&#8220;At that time, unless the debt limit is raised or the Treasury Department takes authorized extraordinary actions, we will be unable to continue to finance government operations,&#8221; said the letter, seen by AFP.<\/p>\n<p><dd>Snow warned that even if the Treasury took &#8220;all available prudent and legal actions&#8221; to avoid breaching the ceiling, &#8220;we anticipate that we can finance government operations no longer than mid-March&#8221;.<\/dd>\n<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dd>\n<\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<p>So the federal government is running out of &#8220;cash.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So am I.<\/p>\n<p>Now which should I be more concerned about?!<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dt>Back to the original story for just a bit:<\/p>\n<p><dd>&#8220;Accordingly, I am writing to request that Congress raise the statutory debt limit as soon as possible.&#8221;<\/dd>\n<\/p>\n<\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<p>What a solution!<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I should write to my bank and credit card companies . . . .<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This morning I read tale of woe: Treasury Secretary John Snow has warned that&#8230;the US government will run out of cash to finance its daily work in two months.
