I just got back from Mexico several days ago. I saw lots of poor people there.

Good for me.

I’m signed up to get information from Christian Aid Ministries about poor people in places like Romania, North Korea, and Nicaragua.

Good for me.

And of course I know there are poor people much closer to home.

Good for me.

What will I do with my awareness? (Just patting myself on the back for it seems insufficient!)

“Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble” (Psalm 41:1).

Let me consider and be considerate of them. Let me care for the needy.

When I have “free time” to think, on what do I choose to think?

About the only times I have for that are when I’m driving and when I’m lying down resting.

At those times I usually end up doing one of three things: praying, listening to talk radio, chewing over problem issues.

What does God think about?

“Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered” (Psalm 40:5).

God thinks about me!

Wow! I think that’s pretty neat. Sobering, too.

And a good reminder to train my mind to think about Him.
