“Little ones to Him belong,” says the children’s chorus.

So let me treat His “property” with carefulness and gentleness.

Let me love the objects of His love.

Or suffer the consequences.

After all, He said this:

“And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me” (Matthew 18:5).

So Jesus takes personally how I treat the little ones at school, at church, and even here at home?

Whoa!

“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones” (Matthew 18:10).

I will! I will!

(At least I’ll try to remember to do so.)

Sometimes I cannot see any solution to a problem. Sometimes I cannot see the way out of a maze. Sometimes I cannot see how a need can be met.

Sometimes I can’t even imagine the answers.

But that’s OK.

That is, if I put my trust in Jesus and build my hope on Him.

He’s the one with the wonderful vision and the incredible imagination:

“Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee” (Matthew 17:27).

Who else could have thought that one up . . . and then made it happen?!

So it makes sense to trust Him, to build my hope on Him.
