I will!

Otherwise, who will?

If I don’t stand up for myself, “they” will prevail and “their” point of view will carry the day.

Sometimes my self-defense works. Often, not.

So when will I learn to stand down and trust Someone else?

“Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me” (Psalm 59:1).

If I ask Him and let Him, He will do it!

“Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence” (Psalm 59:9).

Then let me trust in His strength and get out of His way.

Today’s Psalm (58) struck me as a vengeful passage.

Here’s a sample verse:

“Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD” (6).

Where is the redemptiveness in that kind of attitude?

I know that was a different time and a different covenant.

Now is the time and covenant of grace, forgiveness, and redemption.

I purpose to relate to people, even my detractors and adversaries, with grace and forgiveness.

I want them redeemed, not destroyed.
