So earlier this morning I was reading over the Scripture text for this morning’s Sunday School lesson.<\/p>\n
I came to verses 37 and 38 (naturally, since the passage is Mark 4:26-41):<\/p>\n
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.<\/p>\n
And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow; and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
What should<\/i> have they done?<\/p>\n
What do you think you<\/i> would have done?<\/p>\n
More importantly, what did Jesus<\/i> want them to do?<\/p>\n
Not what they did. That’s quite obvious from what He said to them (v. 40) after He calmed the storm:<\/p>\n
And he said unto them,
\nWhy are ye so fearful?
\nhow is that ye have no faith?<\/p><\/blockquote>\nFrankly, I don’t know what they were supposed to do.<\/p>\n
I mean…yeah, I know they were supposed to be full of faith and without fear.<\/p>\n
But in practical terms, what were<\/i> they supposed to do?<\/p>\n
And when my “boat” is being pounded by the wind and filled by the waves, what am I to do?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
