Well, that needs to be qualified.<\/p>\n

The mercy isn’t for just any afflicted — “for the Lord…will have mercy upon his afflicted.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lord has comforted His<\/span> people!<\/p>\n

Is that about you?<\/p>\n

The joy of the Lord is your strength.<\/strong> -Nehemiah 8:10<\/p>\n

Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth with singing, O mountains: for the Lord hath comforted his people and will have mercy upon his afflicted. -Isaiah 49:13<\/p>\n

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. -Isaiah 12:2<\/p>\n

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. -Psalm 28:7<\/p>\n

My soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. -Isaiah 61:10<\/p>\n

I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God. -Romans 15:17<\/p>\n

We . . . joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. -Romans 5:11<\/p>\n

I will joy in the God of my salvation. -Habakkuk 3:18<\/p>\n

You<\/i> may be one of those of Jesus’ disciples who really needs God’s mercy in this way. And yet, it all seems so remote, so impossible, so out of touch with where you are right now.<\/p>\n

I know.<\/p>\n

So does God.<\/p>\n

Yet He is speaking these things to you!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Read those verses again. Hang on to them. Write them out. Make them your hope and your prayer.<\/p>\n

Do you really have anything better to do?<\/p>\n

Do you really have a better hope?<\/p>\n

I don’t either. Yet I forget. And doubt.<\/p>\n

“My heart trusted in him, and I am helped”<\/span> (Psalm 28:7).<\/p>\n
