I don&#8217;t want any of those in my life!<\/p>\n<h2>My desire<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"margin-top:-1.2em\">\n<li><span class=\"bible\">&#8220;Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer&#8221;<\/span> (Psalm 19:14).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Desire and aspiration and good intentions are not enough.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Neither is an acknowledgement of truth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>My petition<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"margin-top:-1.2em\">\n<li><span class=\"bible\">&#8220;Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me&#8221;<\/span> (Psalm 51:10).<\/li>\n<li>This is the only way Psalm 19:14 will ever be true.<\/li>\n<li>We speak from the abundance of our hearts (Luke 6:45).<\/li>\n<li><strong>This is God&#8217;s work<\/strong>, but He doesn&#8217;t leave me workless.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>My parts<\/h2>\n<p> <!--more--><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top:-1.2em\">\n<li><strong>I must choose right thinking<\/strong>, filtering out the evil.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"bible\">&#8220;Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things&#8221;<\/span> (Philippians 4:8).<\/li>\n<li>Too often, <strong>the worst evil conversations I listen in on<\/strong> and participate in are my own thoughts.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"bible\">&#8220;Do not err; bad conversations corrupt good customs&#8221;<\/span> (1 Corinthians 15:33, my translation from Spanish).<\/li>\n<li>I must bring <strong>every thought into subjection to the Lord Jesus<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"bible\">&#8220;Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ&#8221;<\/span> (2 Corinthians 10:5).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>My commitment<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"margin-top:-1.2em\">\n<li>Listen to Psalm 19:14 again: <span class=\"bible\">&#8220;Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li>I commit myself to acceptable thinking and speaking.<\/li>\n<li>I need <strong>His strength<\/strong> for fulfill such a daunting commitment.<\/li>\n<li>And I need <strong>His redeeming work<\/strong> in me when I fail and repent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"bible\">&#8220;A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh&#8221;<\/span> (Luke 6:45).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"wallpaper\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eaf.net\/pantinghart\/2010\/facing-temptation\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pantinghart\/wp-content\/live-by-every-word.jpg\" alt=\"[The Scriptures say in Matthew 4:4 -- Live by...every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God]\" title=\"God's Word says: Live by...every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4)\" style=\"border:2px solid blue\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Face temptation the right way!<\/i><\/div>\n<p>Note: I was the moderator of our evening service Sunday night. To introduce the evening topic of &#8220;Resolving Bitterness,&#8221; I used the above notes (expanded a bit for this medium) in the opening devotional. I said quite a bit more, of course. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>My brief presentation could be significantly expanded.
