Hurt? Sad? Discouraged? Offended? Upset? Bitter? Proud?<\/p>\n
It strikes me this morning that none of those come from God’s Spirit. (At least not most types of those.)<\/p>\n
So why do I allow any of them to reside in my heart and roil my mind?<\/p>\n
I want to have a right spirit!<\/strong><\/p>\n A right spirit is clean, broken, and contrite. <\/p>\n “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me”<\/em> (Psalm 51:10).<\/p>\n “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise”<\/em> (Psalm 51:17).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Clean — easy to aspire to.<\/p>\n Contrite — not so easy, but still “tolerable.”<\/p>\n Broken — well…<\/p>\n Look, there’s no other way to be the Son’s and have the Son. There’s no other way to have life and be in the light.
