{"id":268,"date":"2006-07-19T07:07:43","date_gmt":"2006-07-19T13:07:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/pantinghart\/?p=268"},"modified":"2014-04-06T06:57:25","modified_gmt":"2014-04-06T13:57:25","slug":"whose-friend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/pantinghart\/2006\/whose-friend\/","title":{"rendered":"Whose Friend?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes it doesn&#8217;t take much to <strong>cause a human to compromise his beliefs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know much about Pilate, particularly the private man, the real man. But in some ways, he seems a man with some sense of justice. And he certainly was a man capable of fear (John 19:8).<\/p>\n<p>And yet he compromised justice and overcame some significant fears concerning Jesus&#8217; identity because of a greater fear: <strong>being perceived as having the wrong friends<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"bible\">&#8220;And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar&#8217;s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar&#8221;<\/span> (John 19:12).<\/p>\n<p>How important is it to me to have the &#8220;right&#8221; friends?<\/p>\n<p>Whose friend am I ready to be?<\/p>\n<p>And what kind of compromises would I make for that?<\/p>\n<p>Let me never be as Pilate.<\/p>\n<p>May I always stand for Jesus.
