{"id":32,"date":"2005-10-17T08:57:20","date_gmt":"2005-10-17T15:57:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/pantinghart\/?p=32"},"modified":"2007-07-22T12:29:49","modified_gmt":"2007-07-22T19:29:49","slug":"seeking-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/pantinghart\/2005\/seeking-love\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeking Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is my response to the failing of another?<\/p>\n<p>I know what I want it to be: Cover it with compassion, mercy, forgiveness, support, encouragement, prayer, and love.<\/p>\n<p><b><i><font color=brown>&#8220;He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends&#8221;<\/font><\/i><\/b> (Proverbs 17:9).<\/p>\n<p>Whose love is being sought here?<\/p>\n<p>The erring one&#8217;s, for sure.<\/p>\n<p>It strikes me this morning, though, that such a response also seeks God&#8217;s love as well. Not that anything we can do helps us merit God&#8217;s love, of course. However, there&#8217;s a solid Biblical foundation for stating that God responds to us as we respond to others.<\/p>\n<p>Proverbs 17:27 also caught my attention this morning:<\/p>\n<p><b><i><font color=brown>&#8220;He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.&#8221;<\/font><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>It seems the more I (think I) know, the more I have to resist the urge to say more.
