Two pieces from the opening verses of Psalm 109 put their fingers on something that has troubled me — infrequently, thankfully — for years.<\/p>\n

“They have spoken against me with a lying tongue”<\/font><\/b> (Psalm 109:2).<\/p>\n

“And fought against me without a cause”<\/font><\/b> (Psalm 109:3).<\/p>\n

This happened to me long ago. And not so long ago.<\/p>\n

What shall I do?<\/p>\n

Cry to God for vengeance and justice as did the Psalm writer?<\/p>\n

No. I grab a hold of this little piece, though:<\/p>\n

“But I give myself unto prayer”<\/font><\/b> (Psalm 109:4).<\/p>\n

I pray blessing and good on them.<\/p>\n

I pray spiritual fulfillment and success for them.<\/p>\n

I pray love, forgiveness, and peace for myself.<\/p>\n

I claim for them verse 21 as I do for myself.<\/p>\n

(I should, anyway.)<\/p>\n

“But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name’s sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me”<\/font><\/b> (Psalm 109:21).<\/p>\n
