{"id":431,"date":"2007-07-07T06:00:11","date_gmt":"2007-07-07T14:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/pantinghart\/?p=431"},"modified":"2017-10-30T08:50:05","modified_gmt":"2017-10-30T15:50:05","slug":"not-for-mary-only","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/pantinghart\/2007\/not-for-mary-only\/","title":{"rendered":"Not for Mary Only"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"lectura\">Reading:<\/p>\n<h3>Luke 1:39-56<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p>The first four verses of Mary&#8217;s <i>Magnificat<\/i> focus on her relationship with God and what He had done for her.<\/p>\n<p>Then she declares:<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation&#8221;<\/font><\/b> (50).<\/p>\n<p>Me, too!<\/p>\n<p>His mercy is on me as well. As I write that and think what to write next, a nervous (fearful?) unease crosses my heart &#8212; because I thought to write this next:<\/p>\n<p>Every event of my life is because of (or prepared by) His mercy.<\/p>\n<p>Why be nervous or fearful or uneasy about that? Well, that&#8217;s easy enough to write. But what if He chooses to do something today, something so difficult for me that His mercy is not so evident to me?<\/p>\n<p>I must trust Him.<\/p>\n<p>I <i>do<\/i> trust Him. Even so, I still am weak and fearful&#8230;and need His comforting reassurance.<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation&#8221;<\/font><\/b> (Isaiah 12:2).<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness&#8221;<\/font><\/b> (Isaiah 41:10).<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
