Reading: Luke 9:43-62<\/b><\/p>\n

At times I don’t respond well to opposition. My automatic reactions still too easily bend toward aggresiveness and defensiveness.<\/p>\n

So I can understand Jesus’ disciples wanting to call down fire on some folks.<\/p>\n

I’m sure Jesus understood as well. But He didn’t cut them any slack:<\/p>\n

“But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of”<\/font><\/b> (55).<\/p>\n

I want to have His manner of Spirit.<\/p>\n

I want to be motivated by His love and compassion for people, even for those who reject me or oppose me. In fact, especially for them.<\/p>\n

I want to help save them, not destroy them.<\/p>\n
