{"id":463,"date":"2007-09-26T07:27:39","date_gmt":"2007-09-26T14:27:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/pantinghart\/?p=463"},"modified":"2007-09-26T07:31:31","modified_gmt":"2007-09-26T14:31:31","slug":"teach-us-to-pray","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/pantinghart\/2007\/teach-us-to-pray\/","title":{"rendered":"Teach Us to Pray"},"content":{"rendered":"<table width=130 border=10 bordercolor=white cellpadding=10 cellspacing=0 bgcolor=\"#003300\" align=right align=texttop>\n<tr>\n<td><b><font color=\"#339933\">Reading:<\/font><br \/>\n<font color=\"#ffffff\">Luke 11:1-13<\/font><br \/>\n<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>I wonder which disciple this was (and more importantly, why he asked this):<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples&#8221;<\/font><\/b> (1).<\/p>\n<p>This morning I am impressed by the brevity of Jesus&#8217; lesson.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m also struck by the lesson&#8217;s points of focus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remember our relationship with God.\n<\/li>\n<li>Declare God&#8217;s greatness and holiness.\n<\/li>\n<li>Promote His kingdom.\n<\/li>\n<li>Surrender to His will.\n<\/li>\n<li>Request sufficient-to-the-day satisfaction of basic needs.\n<\/li>\n<li>Recognize our sin and ask His forgivness.\n<\/li>\n<li>Have a forgiving heart.\n<\/li>\n<li>Ask for victory over evil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Such little and so brief focus on my own needs and desires, eh?!<\/p>\n<p>Oh to pray with a growing consciousness of God, His kingdom, and His righteousness!<\/p>\n<p>And to live that way also!<\/p>\n<p>On that last item on the list: I know my own weaknesses, so pray, Mark!
