{"id":576,"date":"2008-07-18T06:08:16","date_gmt":"2008-07-18T13:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/pantinghart\/?p=576"},"modified":"2008-07-18T06:08:16","modified_gmt":"2008-07-18T13:08:16","slug":"sin-sweet-and-pleasant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/pantinghart\/2008\/sin-sweet-and-pleasant\/","title":{"rendered":"Sin, Sweet and Pleasant"},"content":{"rendered":"<table width=150 border=0 cellpadding=10 cellspacing=0 bgcolor=\"#003300\" align=right align=texttop>\n<tr>\n<td><b><font color=\"#339933\">Reading:<\/font><br \/>\n<font color=\"#ffffff\">Proverbs 9:10-18<\/font><br \/>\n<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>That&#8217;s part of the nature and enticement of evil, at least in some of its phases.<\/p>\n<p>In verse 17, the simple woman declares:<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;Stolen waters are sweet.&#8221;<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>True!<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;Bread eaten in secret is pleasant.&#8221;<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>True again!<\/p>\n<p>Oh the sweet, pleasant thrill of doing what I shouldn&#8217;t be doing!<\/p>\n<p>Long before Solomon wrote Proverbs, Moses made the choice to deny himself that sweet, pleasant thrill in Egypt:<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season&#8221;<\/font><\/b> (Hebrews 11:25).<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s right &#8212; the sweet, pleasant thrill doesn&#8217;t last. Pleasure and sweetness have their season in the Sin Cycle.
