{"id":73,"date":"2005-11-28T06:55:51","date_gmt":"2005-11-28T14:55:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/pantinghart\/?p=73"},"modified":"2007-07-22T08:30:56","modified_gmt":"2007-07-22T15:30:56","slug":"wanted-faithful-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/pantinghart\/2005\/wanted-faithful-friends\/","title":{"rendered":"Wanted: Faithful Friends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes&#8221;<\/font><\/b> (2 Timothy 1:15).<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes it seems like some of my friends are drifting away from me.<\/p>\n<p>Then, also like Paul, I remember other friends . . . .<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain&#8221;<\/font><\/b> (2 Timothy 1:16,17).<\/p>\n<p>I am so thankful for steady, faithful friends like Jake and Joe.<\/p>\n<p>This all reminds me of a verse in Proverbs . . . .<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother&#8221;<\/font><\/b> (18:24).<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s my rough-and-quick translation of how it&#8217;s rendered in Spanish: <b><font color=brown>&#8220;The man that has friends is to show him a friend . . . .&#8221;<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Maybe I&#8217;m not conducting routine maintenance on my friendships.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps it isn&#8217;t so much that some friends are drifting from me, but more that I&#8217;m drifting from them!<\/p>\n<p>Hmmm.<\/p>\n<p>Then I wonder something else: Just what kind of friend am I?
