{"id":78,"date":"2005-12-03T07:57:57","date_gmt":"2005-12-03T15:57:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eaf.net\/pantinghart\/?p=78"},"modified":"2007-07-22T12:39:13","modified_gmt":"2007-07-22T19:39:13","slug":"why-did-jesus-die","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eaf.net\/pantinghart\/2005\/why-did-jesus-die\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Did Jesus Die?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>God Himself, Creator of all and Sovereign over all, humbled Himself and then died.<\/p>\n<p>For me.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To redeem me from all evil\n<\/li>\n<li>To purify me for Himself\n<\/li>\n<li>To make me uniquely His own\n<\/li>\n<li>To give me a zeal for more good works<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Two little clarifying notes:<\/p>\n<p>First &#8212; in Spanish &#8220;a peculiar people&#8221; is rendered &#8220;un pueblo propio,&#8221; which translates loosely into something along the lines of &#8220;a people of His own&#8221; or &#8220;a people for His very own.&#8221; Thus, He died to make me uniquely (ie peculiarly) His own!<\/p>\n<p>Second &#8212; I say <i>more<\/i> good works in recognition of the good work He already did in giving Himself for me.<\/p>\n<p><b><font color=brown>&#8220;Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works&#8221;<\/font><\/b> (Titus 2:14).<\/p>\n<p>May God help me to function according to the Lord&#8217;s purposes in giving Himself to redeem me in the first place!<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>God Himself, Creator of all and Sovereign over all, humbled Himself and then died.
