Pilate’s question truly is my question to face as well:

“What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?” (Mark 15:12).

The decision is mine to make. And make it I must.

Well, then, what are my options?

Abuse Him or serve Him.

Reject Him or accept Him.

Mock Him or honor Him.

Ignore Him or love Him.

Condemn Him or release Him.

Give in to others or surrender to Him.

What shall I do with Him?

What do I do with Him every day?

Despite what Jesus told them, Peter and the other disciples insisted that they would remain faithful and true to Him. They were certain even death could not cause them to deny and desert him.

Then this:

“And they all forsook him, and fled” (Mark 14:50).

And later, this:

“And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said . . . . And when he thought thereon, he wept” (72).

After such good intentions, such bitter defeat.

They were so human.

Just like I am.

May God help me to be faithful to Him at all costs all the time.

I need that every day because each day brings its own opportunities to fail.
