Poor Elijah. He was alone in doing right. Entirely. Absolutely. And to make matters worse, “they” were hunting him so they could exterminate him.

Elijah was an endangered species. “They” were intent on changing the status of his kind to extinct.

“Lord…I am left alone, and they seek my life” (Romans 11:3).

Elijah was wrong, though, about being the only one left doing right.

But that’s not the lesson for me this morning.

Lesson: Even when it seems I’m the only one doing right, don’t quit.

Elijah could have quit doing right, but he didn’t!

I don’t want to stand alone, but if the only other alternative is to fall with the rest, no thanks!

So I purpose to carefully live my life according to God’s ways in every way.

“For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge” (Romans 10:2).

Yesterday I saw news photos showing some shirt-less men lashing themselves with whips that had swords attached to the ends.

Almost every day I read of a suicide bomber striking somewhere in the world.

What zeal they show in the name of Allah!

Allah is a false God and not at all the one spoken of in Romans 10:2.

If only they would redirect their zeal toward Jehovah, the one true God!

If only I had that kind of zeal for God!
