“Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?” (Proverbs 20:6).

I am so inclined to defend myself and explain things the “right” way.

In so doing, may I always be faithful in the presentation of facts, whether these put me in a good light, or in a bad light!

Sometimes, though, it is better to not defend myself verbally, letting my life make my case.

Now to have the wisdom to know when to speak in my own defense and when to be quiet!

Sometimes keep means “hang on to and obey”; other times it means “guard and protect.”

So then I read this verse:

“He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die” (Proverbs 19:16).

When I hang on to and obey God’s commandments, I guard and protect my own soul.

And if I don’t care enough for His commands and for my own soul, then death is inescapable.

I choose life. I want to protect my soul. So I purpose to obey God.

That is my commitment today.

Again.
