Yeah, I know. I need to make every season count. And I need to make every season of my life count, too.

But I’m thinking of summer right now because it’s summer, and because I just read this verse:

“He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame” (Proverbs 10:5).

Not just any kind of gathering will do, of course:

“The labour of the righteous tendeth to life” (Proverbs 10:16).

And what about what Jesus said?

“Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35).

Let me not sleep, but gather…the right harvest!

Godly wisdom cries out:

“Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him” (Proverbs 9:4).

Interestingly, the siren voice of worldly wisdom (aka foolishness) has the same message (16).

So I must always be alert and on guard — they both want me!

And I will respond to one or the other.

If I don’t purposefully choose godly wisdom, I will certainly follow after foolishness.

It’s that simple.

So I renew my choice of godliness and godly wisdom.

Now to remember that as I face life today.
