Reading: Exodus 3:1-15

That’s what Moses said early on in his famous encounter with God:

“And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I” (4).

That seems to me a sensible enough response. Natural, in fact.

God has more to say than “Moses, Moses” — so He says it…and eventually comes to this:

“Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt” (10).

Moses has another “sensible enough” response. Alas, what was required was a response based on and triggered by faith, which often can “feel” quite senseless: “Here am I.” Instead, we have this:

“And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?” (11).

I need faith and courage to answer God correctly.
