Psalm 135

Why should I praise the Lord?

That’s a question I don’t ask.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t live it way, way to often. (That’s another way of saying that I don’t praise the Lord much.)

When my church isn’t what it should be and my family isn’t what it should be and I’m not what I should be, for what should I praise the Lord?

When I’m far behind in my work and we have water in our basement and both of our vehicles need fixing, for what should I praise the Lord?

When I’m discouraged and suspicious and hurt and confused and lonely and rejected, for what should I praise the Lord?

When my vision has dried up and my goals have moved beyond my reach and my . . . .

OK. That’s enough of that. You get the idea by now.

Why should I praise the Lord?

“Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant” (3).

That makes sense!

(Doesn’t it?)

Psalm 134

What would it have been like to observe God at work when He was creating the world?

Such an original, creative, imaginative, powerful, innovative, resourceful, forward-seeing Being!

All those attributes were required for Him to make heaven and earth.

“The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion” (3).

I believe He uses all those same attributes in blessing His people — including me.

Wow!

Praise the Lord!
