God does so many good things for me. (Alas, I don’t acknowledge most of them.)

Why?

He has many reasons, I’m sure. I just got done reading one of them:

“That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.” (Psalm 105:45).

His blessings on me should lead me to obedience — grateful obedience, willing obedience, joyful obedience.

Is He bribing me?

Not at all!

He blesses me because He loves me. He blesses me because He loves to do good things for me.

And He knows that my heart will bend toward Him when I experience and acknowledge His goodness to me.

May I remember today to look for His blessings to me.

And may I remember to live according to His ways.

I require many things to keep me going.

Spiritually, physically, socially, mentally, financially — my needs are many.

And my own resources are so meager.

But God has not abandoned the works of His hands.

“These wait all upon thee that thou mayest give them their meat in due season” (Psalm 104:27).

I read that and remembered this:

“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” (Matthew 6:26).

Since His eye is on the sparrow, I know that He watches over me!

But just before that He declared: “No man can serve two masters . . . . Ye cannot serve God and mammon” (24).

I choose Him!
