Not pondering anew what a mind-bending privilege and honor is mine!

We who have been heirs of God for a long time don’t think much of it anymore.

Well, that was my conclusion about myself as I read through this morning’s collage of verses from Daily Light on the Daily Path.

See what you think:

If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. -Romans 8:17

If ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. -Galatians 3:29

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. -1 John 3:l

Thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. -Galatians 4:7

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. -Ephesians 1:5

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me. -John 17:24

He that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him I will give power over the nations. -Revelation 2:26

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. -Revelation 3:21

I found myself reading the familiar words…and not pondering anew what a mind-bending privilege and honor is mine. “An heir of God” — great, next subject?

I want renewed awe and wonder and appreciation at my position in Christ.

By the way, the above selection is from the July 3, Morning section of Daily Light on the Daily Path.

Look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. —Isaiah 51:1.

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity. -Psalm 51:5

None eye pitied thee but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the loathing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born. And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee, Live. -Ezekiel 16:5,6

He brought me up . . . out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God. -Psalm 40:2,3

When we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. -Romans 5:6-8

God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ. -Ephesians 2:4,5
