But looks are deceiving. Sometimes. Like the time Jesus hung on the cross. Dying. Dead. Defeated.
Reading:
Luke 23:26-37

…it is probably defeat.

But not necessarily.

“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left” (33).

Would you say that was a defeat for Jesus?

No, neither would I. Even though it sure does look like defeat!

But looks are deceiving. Sometimes. And this was one of them.

Maybe some of the defeat I’ve been feeling will turn out to have been a God-ordained stepping stone to victory.

I don’t know. All I can see and feel and taste right now is the stinging bitterness of defeat.

Nevertheless, this verse gives me hope and assurance. Maybe soon God will give me victory for defeat and sweetness for bitterness.
