A Sign for Ecclesial Communions

As a Mennonite, this was of interest to me:

“Who could deny, for example,
that the historic ‘peace churches’ of the Anabaptist tradition
have been for the older ecclesial communions
a sign of judgement,
a way in which God has called all the churches
to recover their abhorrence of violence in his name?”

The interest for me lies both in the quote as well as to whom it is attributed by whom.

As reported by Vatican Radio (“The Voice of the Pope and the Church in dialogue with the world”), the above quote was part of an address yesterday at the Rome church of San Gregorio al Celio by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams: “Monastic virtues and Ecumenical hopes”
