She Lied. Now What?

Andrée Seu Peterson lied to cover for her mother, almost immediately recognized her sin, and eventually wrote an article about it.

I’ll treat you to some tidbits to nibble, then I’ll explain the question in the title:

Upon exiting the premises I thought to myself, “Wow, I just lied. I didn’t even think twice about it.”

What has the devil done to us that we dismiss God’s command, saying that lies are harmless greasing of the wheel?

But here is the larger point: What may seem to us as harmless social lying is not without consequence.

Some spiritual barrier has been breached that, once breached, brings your soul into a new dimension.

Once those termites in the foundation reach critical mass, there’s no telling what will happen to the country—after all, how strong is a house that’s entirely built of lies.

“A little leaven leavens the whole lump” (Galatians 5:9).

Andrée speaks to an issue that also troubles me: The ease with which we can skirt truth. So I’m grateful she addressed the subject in her column yesterday at World magazine.

But something huge is missing in her piece! I hope it isn’t missing from her history; just from her article. Here; read it for yourself: Just a little leaven.

What is missing?

  1. Going back to make that lie right? I’m not sure if that’s what you mean by, “Now what?” But that is my guess. 🙂
