Where

Where was God? I've got a five-letter answer.

Where was God…?

One of them shall not fall…without your Father.

Where indeed. I can answer with five letters. But first, some historical applications.

Where was God when…

  • The first brother killed his first sibling?
  • The Crusaders slaughtered Muslims?
  • The Romans slaughtered the Jews?
  • Hitler rose to power?
  • The election was stolen?
  • The baby was chopped in pieces?
  • The Jews were slaughtered by the Nazis?
  • The evil reports about me were spread?
  • The Hutus and the Tutsis “genocided” each other?
  • The drunk (or texting or sleeping or reckless) driver killed the innocent(s)?
  • The storm (or flood or earthquake) struck?
  • The economy collapsed?
  • The war broke out and raged and ravaged?
  • The child was abused?
  • The pre-Hodgkin’s cells first went renegade within her?
  • The money ran out?
  • The marital faithfulness ran out?
  • The lost wanderer (legal or illegal) slowly died of exposure (or thirst or hunger)?
  • The bird fell to the ground, dead?

Where was God?

  1. Good answer. One that is repeated a lot in the Old Testament and reiterated in the New Testament. All these calamities are there for us to undermine the securities we are prone to embrace in life and it serves as a reminder of people’s fallen nature.
