What do I live by?

Some folks live by the rules of the church. Others live by the opinions and expectations of family or friends. Some live by what they can get away with. I suppose most live by what they think is good and advantageous for themselves.

But what about me?

I want to be one of these:

“The just shall live by faith” (Galatians 3:11).

I have been saved by faith, praise God, but I must also live by faith.

May I be faithful in the way of Jesus.

This evening this verse fragment caught my attention: “that I might live unto God” (Galatians 2:19).

Now I would like it to seize my ambition, my purpose, and my desire.

I want to live my life to God’s glory and for His benefit.

Although I have tried to do that in the past, too many times I pursued my own benefit.

I don’t suppose that in this life I’ll ever get to the place of never pursuing my own benefit. But I would like to do that less and less.

Now to remember . . . .
