Reading:
Leviticus 25:8-24

That’s the title of next Sunday’s lesson in our Sunday School quarterly from Christian Light Publications. The Bible passage selected is Leviticus 25:8-24.

Chew this verse which stood out to me in my reading of the passage this morning:

“Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God” (17).

The concept of not oppressing another “resonates” in my heart. I’ve got to sharpen my sensitivity in this regard.

It’s interesting to me that oppressing another is contrasted with fearing God.

What do you make of that?!

Reading:
1 John 4:1-12

We live in perilous times. Deception and deceivers abound at every turn, even in places where truth should safely reign.

No matter where I am, I must stay alert and attentive:

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (1).

To effectively test the spirits, I must know the Holy Spirit well.

Is my heart open to that?

Is my heart open to Him?
