Reading:
Proverbs 21:21-31

We live in perilous times that are becoming even more perilous.

We are surrounded by many perils — economic, cultural, spiritual, moral, physical, relational, psychological, and more.

I must prepare myself to withstand and overcome such perils.

I must prepare my family to do the same. (How do I do that??!!)

The focus on the perils and the focus on the preparations both have the potential to create unhealthy perspectives and mindsets.

So this reminder is very, very timely:

“The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD” (31).

“Oh God, grant us Your protection and safety!”

Reading:
Proverbs 19:20-29

“There are many devices in a man’s heart: nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand” (21).

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil” (23).

How shall I acquire them?

  • “Hang out” with the Lord
  • Visit with the Lord
  • Follow the Lord
  • Serve the Lord
  • Listen to the Lord
  • Submit to the Lord
  • Live for the Lord
  • Acknowledge the Lord
