How long have you known Jesus? How well?

Jesus had been with His disciples some three years. And yet we hear Him say this:

“Have I been so long time with you, and yet has thou not known me, Philip?” (John 14:9).

I’ve been with Him longer than that. I find it very heart-searching to realize I should know Him far better than I do.

Let that become the primary driving passion in my life!

The more I know Him, the better I can pray in His name:

“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13).

Whatever I ask and for whomever I ask it!

Overcoming anger, defeating depression, denying self, loving a child, casting down temptation — I need to ask!

Inner peace, interpersonal peace, conflict resolution, forgiveness, freedom from bitterness — I need to ask!

Physical healing, emotional restoration, moral purity, spiritual strength, long-haul commitment — I need to ask!

“Whatsoever . . . will I do.” Jesus said it!

Can the world see Jesus when they look at my life?

2 Corinthians 4

God shined in my heart, driving away the darkness and bringing me into fellowship with Him.

Now that Gospel light must shine from me.

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost” (2 Corinthians 4:3).

How often do those who need it most miss the Gospel light . . . because it is so well hidden in my life?

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels” (2 Corinthians 4:7).

[God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light (Psalm 118:27)]
God has shown us light!

The light of the Gospel is the treasure. The earthen vessel is my body. I must allow that light to shine!

“The life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body” (2 Corinthians 4:10).

“That the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh” (2 Corinthians 4:11).

“Can the world see Jesus when they look at your life?”

If not, who loses?
