Reading:
Proverbs 11:22-31

“As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion” (22).

That’s how God sees her.

That’s how I want to see her.

She who uses her beauty to draw attention to herself is misusing her beauty.

She who enhances herself physically in an effort to increase her beauty and appeal succeeds in diminishing her inner charm and attractiveness.

May God bless the women who cultivate a modest, discreet spirit.

Those with a faithful spirit
Reading:

Proverbs 11:12-21

“Can I trust him?”

I have wondered that about others.

But that’s not my focus right now.

“A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter” (Proverbs 11:13).

My spirit — which of the above describes my spirit?

I purpose to cultivate a faithful spirit.

I wonder if that expression is used elsewhere in the Bible. I’ll check right now…

Nope.

Now I wonder how the verse is rendered in the Spanish 1960 Reina-Valera version…

Nothing strikingly different.

May I be cautious with gossips and faithful with secrets.
