Reading:
Psalm 114

The huge mass of people stood, unable to advance. The Red Sea hindered further progress. Going around it was not an option. With no great fleet of boats, going over it was out of the question. And going through it…well, that was preposterous to even consider!

Forty years later, a huge mass of their descendants stood, unable to advance. The Jordan River blocked any further advance. Going around it was out of the question. With no great fleet of boats, going over it was not an option. And going through it…well, that was ridiculous to even consider!

But God’s plan called for the “preposterous” and the “ridiculous” — both times.

“The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back” (3).

Both times, God’s people went through.

Teach me, oh God, to see your plan. Keep me from getting cast down by the obstacles. Move me forward in faith. And help my unbelief. Amen.
