How Long Til Breakfast?

And will those things end up in my breakfast?

I didn’t quite spoon-feed our hens this morning. (Well, Friday morning. I didn’t finish this project then!)

But I did pick out — one at a time and by hand — some special feed for them.

Problem is, one hen pigged out.

Chickens are that way.

No consideration for their fellow fowl.

But I got sidetracked.

The special feed is high protein. And free for the picking. And slippery. And wriggly.

Personally, I don’t care for it. But some of our chickens love it!

Earthworms.

And that got me to wondering — how long til those worms that hen ate end up in my breakfast eggs?

Not that I mind. I can eat worms that have been thus processed by chickens.

(No photos this time. But maybe next…)

Blog Attack

Somebody (from Saudi Arabia, apparently) attacked this blog this morning.

First, someone succeeded in breaching my login. Once in there, he changed my login password as well as the email associated with my account. That was at 11:29.

Then he launched four SQL Injection Attacks at 11:31, 11:33, 11:34, and 11:43. Thankfully, those were detected and blocked by my firewall, which also identified the attacker’s IP as 94.97.85.10.

Thankfully, I tried to log in shortly thereafter.

When I couldn’t do so because my password wasn’t valid, my cranial alarm bells went from dormant to frenzied in a NanoSomethingOrOther.

I went straight to my SQL database, changed the email address on my account back to what it should be, then changed the password. I was done with that by 11:53.

I’ve been unable to detect any other damage done to this blog. But this person could have changed posts, comments, and pictures. So I’m warning you: there may be bad content somewhere here.

If you come across evidence of such tampering, please let me know right away.

Thanks.

And may God bless the attacker. Amen.

Haiti: CAM Recovery Hospital

Christian Aid Ministries has over 30 patients at their recovery hospital in Haiti. Five nurses, an EMT, and several translators give personal care and attention for each patient.

Some of the patients are in the skin grafting stage. Thankfully a neighboring facility has plastic surgeons who are willing and waiting to help with this. Skin grafting helps speed up the healing process for patients with large, slow healing wounds.

Physical therapy is also a big need with so many amputees and patients with other physical ailments. Lisa Miller returned to the CAM base in Haiti to serve as a physical therapist at the recovery hospital.

The need for cash donations to help the hurting in Haiti continues to be urgent. If you would like to donate by card or check, I have more information here. 100% of your donation will be used for the Haiti Earthquake Relief Project.

Got Bias?

If you’re asking me, sure. I’ve got plenty of it. And you can assume that when you read here at my blog.

Timothy Egan, one of the Opinionators over at the New York Times, also has bias:

From out of the ordered suburbs of Idaho to the grim chaos of Haiti came 40-year-old Laura Silsby — fleeing creditors who had foreclosed on her home and ex-employees stiffed of their wages.

To the Caribbean she went with nine other self-appointed missionaries and an audacious plan: they would “gather 100 orphans from the streets,” of the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, according to an outline on the Web site of Silsby’s group, New Life Children’s Refuge.

The children would be whisked across the border into the Dominican Republic. Food, shelter, legal permits: the basics would be worked out by divine blueprint. For now, they needed funds — tax deductible!

Wow! 😯

I don’t know if Timothy Egan admits to his bias, but just in case, I’ll admit him to it for him. (Or something like that.) 😆

I imagine you have your biases as well. And I’m sure WorldNet Daily does as well, so I’ll offer this piece of theirs as partial counterbalance to Timothy Egan:

Her foibles and frailties notwithstanding, Laura Silsby – backed by the Rev. Clint Henry and his 500-member, Idaho-based, Baptist Church – is probably the best thing that’ll ever happen to these waifs.

Whatever were Sillby’s plans for the children, these were far and away better than what’s in store for them if they remain at home.

Well, opinion pieces aside, here’s a news piece from the BBC (which we hope is unbiased, but not with a lot of hope): Haiti poised to free last two American missionaries

A judge in Haiti has said the last two Christian US missionaries being held on suspicion of abducting children after the earthquake may be freed in days.

Bernard Sainvil told Reuters the case, which involves 33 children, should be closed this week because there were no criminal grounds to pursue it.

“No criminal grounds” — so how will Timothy Egan deal with that?

I don’t plan to try to find out.

Hopefully Laura Silsby will get her creditor and employee woes ironed out.

More importantly, though, hopefully the Haiti children will get the help and opportunity and love and homes they need.

Maybe Christian Aid Ministries will help in that.

Oh, wait. I should say that hauling children not your own across international boundaries is a really dumb thing to do if you don’t have all your authorization ducks quacking in a row. That goes for Mark Roth, Timothy Egan, Laura Silsby, Bernard Sainvil, Bernard Sain-Vil, and/or Christian Aid Ministries.

My Home Town

I still think of Ciudad Obregón (Sonora, México) as my hometown. I grew up there. From babyhood through late teens.

Many times I went fishing and inner tubing in Lake Oviachic:

Lake Oviachic, also referred to as the Álvaro Obregón Reservoir, appears as a dark blue curved form in the upper left quadrant, north of Ciudad Obregón. This artificial lake is found in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Occidental, and fed and drained by the Yaqui River.

Super-cold oxygen-less water? 😯

Nope. In Case You Hadn’t Heard.

What is Killing American Babies?

Thanks to very ambitious pharmaceutical companies, with the help of pediatricians, the American government and schools across the country, the USA has produced the most highly vaccinated infants in the world. We give American babies up to three times the vaccines as other first-world countries. While we have earned a “blue ribbon” for our vaccine rates, we are close to earning the “booby prize” in another category that should devastate every parent in the country. Since implementation of the CDC mass vaccine program we have gone from about 2-3 to about 41-42 on the international infant mortality list. Yes, this means that a high rate of American infants never live to see toddler hood.

Must I Love My Muslim Neighbor?

An unemployed truck driver from East Nashville was stunned to see hateful graffiti smeared across the walls of a local house of worship.

“When I saw it, I just broke down crying,” said the truck driver, who gave his name as “Tim.” He bought paint, brushes, and other supplies which he donated to congregants as they, along with 75 Christian and Jewish volunteers, worked to repair the damage done to the religious sanctuary – the Nashville Al-Farooq Mosque.

Apparently riled by a local news story that darkly insinuated terrible things about Tennessee’s Muslim population, someone had defaced the building and left a note calling for the extermination of all Muslims.

Bill would ban federal currency in SC

South Carolina will no longer recognize U.S. currency as legal tender, if State Rep. Mike Pitts has his way.

Pitts, a fourth-term Republican from Laurens, introduced legislation earlier this month that would ban what he calls “the unconstitutional substitution of Federal Reserve Notes for silver and gold coin” in South Carolina.

If the bill were to become law, South Carolina would no longer accept or use anything other than silver and gold coins as a form of payment for any debt, meaning paper money would be out in the Palmetto State.

Pitts said the intent of the bill is to give South Carolina the ability to “function through gold and silver coinage” and give the state a “base of currency” in the event of a complete implosion of the U.S. economic system.

Tibet’s Dali Lama must be pretty tough. See the snow pile there?!

Dali Lama leaves the White House

And the bags of garbage?! Somebody needs to clean up before the guests leave. Or have them use another door. Actually, guests or no guests, that garbage piled up there looks very tacky. No wonder the “A” guy looks rather disgusted. (Maybe he should have given the bag a hard shove with his foot — that would have made for good TV, no?)

Well, I’d best take care of my own garbage and my own guests.

Oh, wait, don’t leave yet. After seeing the above photo, I thought of Thidwick, the Big-Hearted Moose — he was nice to his guests. 🙂

Above all, love God!
