What a Day

Way back when:

  • 1933 — the United States went off the gold standard
  • 1967 — about to be attacked by surrounding Arab countries, Israel raided Egyptian military targets in what would eventually be called the “Six Day War”
  • 1968 — Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles
  • 1981 — the U.S. Centers for Disease Control reported that five homosexuals in Los Angeles had come down with a rare kind of pneumonia; they were the first recognized cases of what later became known as AIDS.

What else?

Got a Million?

Million Dollar Bill

Feds seize ‘millions’ – in gospel tracts

Secret Service agents today threatened a Denton, Texas, evangelist with arrest for counterfeiting and seized 8,300 gospel tracts designed as “million-dollar bills.”

Can an original also be a counterfeit?

Wikipedia mentions these bills:

Though not meant to be used as actual legal tender, Christian evangelist Ray Comfort’s ministry, Living Waters Publications, produces another fake $1,000,000 bill, which is in reality a Christian gospel tract. This produced embarrassing results when one dishonest fellow attempted to deposit one of the fake bills at a bank in South Carolina, triggering a Secret Service raid on one of Comfort’s warehouses in Denton.

Stock up on these bills here.

And whatever you do, accept no imitations!

Child Sacrifice?

Children should get better than this:

This is not a clash of civilizations, as child sacrifice is one of the hallmarks of uncivilization. This is a struggle for our survival as a race, as one side sheds every trapping of civilization, of decency, of humanity in an effort to win through sheer revulsive behavior.

What has happened to mankind’s inborn love of children, especially our own?

I agree with the writer above — it is uncivilized to sacrifice children for an adult campaign, an adult struggle, an adult agenda.

Sacrificing children because of adult selfishness is abominable.

I can condemn the Palestinians for that.

I can condemn abortion providers and consumers for that.

I can condemn abusers for that.

And I suppose such condemnation is not mine alone.

But how do children — my own children — suffer because of my own selfishness and my own agendas?

The above article highlights such a tragedy.

But what is happening in our own country, in our own communities, in our own churches, and in our own families?

Wrongly wound children at your own peril! God will most surely avenge them in His own time.

A Great Threat

Do you know where North Korea is located?

This article will help you. Rather, the map with it should help.

Christianity is observed as a dangerous foreign influence which stimulated the collapse of communist regimes in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. That means the government sees the faith as one of the greatest threats to the regime’s power.

As a result, the North Korean authorities are making harsh efforts to root out Christianity. This regime is suspected of detaining more political and religious prisoners than any other country in the world.

That would seem to make evangelism and discipleship nearly impossible. Not so, says World Bible Translation Center’s Gary Bishop.

What difference should that make to me?

Speeders

I tend to like Tony Snow. Too bad he chose to axe his radio show.

OK, that’s out of the way. Now this:

“If you had a traffic ticket and you paid it, you’re not forever a speeder, are you?” White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said in response to questions from The Examiner.

Huh? You kiddin’ me?

Comparing that to an illegal immigrant is silly.

Let’s adjust Tony’s comparison to make it fit illegal immigration a little better.

I’m speeding. A police officer pulls up beside me and motions me to roll down my window. As we continue hurtling along at 86 mph, he fines me $50. Then he drops back. I continue on at 86 mph while my wife accesses the Web and pays my fine online. And the scenery continues to fly by at 86 mph.

Since he fined me and I paid my fine, am I no longer speeding despite exceeding the posted speed limit?

Above all, love God!
