Looking back on this day in 1972:
Mr. Levin, It’s No Use
I’ve listened to some of your informed, eloquent, impassioned monologues defending and promoting the US Constitution. Though I think they are helpfully enlightening, I’m convinced you’re wasting your time.
For your laudable mission to succeed, the Constitution must be carefully observed and honored. And protected, defended, and enforced, for it can do none of those for itself.
Alas, far too many judicial and political leaders entrusted with such a task have been (and are) derelict in that. Furthermore, far too much of the populace just doesn’t care. And both of those numbers are on the rise, not the wane.
The judicial, political, Constitutional war to preserve this republic as founded is lost. Nothing can be done to rescue the United States of America. Nothing. Do the political and cultural math — the numbers just aren’t there. Read it all
Your Pride Will Flatten You!
Pride is a certain path to defeat and failure.
I know — experience ain’t complicated on this one!
I know — the Bible ain’t complicated either!
Pride will bring people low.
Pride puts individuals on a collision course with divine resistance.
That is true of pride in general.
Your pride is no different! Read it all
Starting Healthy
I launched my day in a fashion good for my health:
- Invested time praying for my family and me.
- Read this morning’s Scripture selections from Daily Light on the Daily Path. (And highlighted one verse at Panting Hart.)
- Gingerly ate half a banana (too green yet to eat a whole half).
- Sipped (happily) two cups of Nescafé Clásico
.
- Slurped (less enjoyably) one cup of Blueberry Breeze Green Tea
. I’ve told you before about the benefits of green tea (but you have to drink it, OK?).
- Chomped down three Papaya Enzymes
tablets. They taste good and when I consume them faithfully I don’t need Tums or Rolaids like before.
- Shook cayenne pepper
onto the fried egg I ate.
- Ate slice of homemade bread. Toasted. Under fried egg, in lieu of plate. (Yes, I ate the lieu too.)
- Swallowed two Vitamin Code 50 & Wiser Men
. (I suppose that’s what the cannibal said too.) 😯
2013 Things To Do in 2013
I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions.
I also do…
- Old Year’s Resolutions. (They happen toward the end of a year.)
- New Day’s Resolutions
- New Week’s Resolutions
- Today’s Middle-of-the-Day’s Resolutions
The key to making effective resolutions is to make them when they need to be made. If you need to do something different or new, don’t wait til January 1!

Why God Sent His Son
God sent His Son into the world…
- “that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9).
- “to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10).
- “that we might receive the adoption of sons” (Galatians 4:4-5).
